Kindle Paperwhite 2018 Review - All-new Waterproof Kindle
I’m sure this is not the first time you are hearing about the Amazon Kindle, yes, it’s not new, but do you know Amazon just released an update to the previous one, this one comes with a waterproof feature, yes it does. Go ahead and read our Kindle Paperwhite 2018 Review.
This product has a small form factor with a built-in reading light that allows you to read in the dark. The new Kindle paperwhite is slim, lightweight, also, the display complements the body in a stylish way. Sources say that it will come with a very strong update. And if you are as eager as us then you have to wait till November 7 as that’s when it's going on sale.
There are a few things that we would like to point out here, from the key features, screen, Design, the amazing typeface, typesetting and what we like and dislike about this new Amazon gadget.
One of the best features of the Kindle paperwhite is the screen, compared to the previous version that stood at 212ppi the new one is now 300ppi. The paperwhite is designed as a gadget that allows you to read electronically and the screen still stands at 6 inches – I guess they didn’t just want to change that.
One might say that it has the higher pixel density used by some of its counterparts. The text that is displayed on the screen is now sharper, and this factor is important as you would want to spend hours reading a book you love. Still on the screen, there is an improvement with the night time reading feature that allows you to read at night with ease.
Talking about the design of the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite, there is nothing new to talk about, the Kindle paperwhite still maintains its blueprint. Amazon didn’t alter the design at all, after all, if it’s not broken why fix it? really, they don’t have to change it, at least for now, design-wise, the Kindle has a close to perfect design.
The body is made of matte, has plenty of grips, soft touch and slim enough to hold. Not to forget the bezel that surrounds the display, what the bezel does is that it allows you to have a place to rest your fingers. Every paperwhite needs a turning buttons, it’s annoying to have to go back a page to be able to go to the next one, the older version of the Kindle paperwhite had this problem, you couldn’t turn to the next page comfortably, that’s where the Voyage benefited, but I guess Amazon heard out complaint and have decided to make the touchscreen navigation more sensitive, the touch screen is pretty fine and very responsive.
The Bookerly Font
The Booker font just shows that Amazon means business. They created their own typeface and its part of those things that we are looking forward to. I know what you are thinking, why do I need a new typeface, truth is, apart from just being a marketing thing, far from it, the new typeface gives the Kindle that modern feel. It’s easier to read and doesn’t look too bold.
Type – Setting
Amazon has added a new typesetting engine, a major change to the 2015 edition. The quality typesetting has helped improve the reader experience. Now you don’t have to worry about unnecessary whitespace and broken sentences. The new feature also adds drop caps where it's needed, this was previously not in any ebooks. Just happy Amazon was able to fix this big issue.
- The new Kindle whitepaper now has a super sharp screen
- An improved typography.
- The battery is now stronger
- A responsive display
